Team Up DC Initiatives

TUDC builds awareness and support for youth sports programs in DC throughout the year with initiatives that include:

Coaches Certification Program

TUDC hosts comprehensive training and certification courses for coaches, officials, athletic trainers and volunteers. In addition, guest speakers present on various youth sports and development topics.

SCORE (Sports Careers Offer Real Experience)

TUDC’s workforce development program, SCORE, is designed to expose youth to sports-related careers off the field. SCORE activities give youth hands-on experiences that prepares them for college and careers in sports related fields. In some instances, students may earn either pay or college credit through these experiences.

Coaches in the Classroom

TUDC is proud to sponsor, with Athlife and the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, the “Coaches in the Classroom” program. In a participating high school, an academic-athletic coach provides 20 hours a week of academic and life skills support for up to 125 high school athletes.

TUDC invites all of the District’s professional sports teams to participate in a coordinated communications campaign to raise awareness about various youth sports related topics such as healthy eating, fitness, positive choices, and education. The campaign broadcasts Public Service Announcements using radio, television and social media.

Health and Wellness

TUDC hosts year round health, nutrition and fitness programs and special events for youth, families and communities. The goal is to make Washington, DC the healthiest city for youth in America.
